At the core of our training program is a culmination of those observations recorded and written about in The Natural Horse by Jaime Jackson. In our first module, Module 1, the student will explore the fundamental principles applied in Natural Hoof Care over a period of 5 days through lectures, assignments and various study materials. All lesson material is developed by Jaime Jackson and taught by the primary AANHCP instructors teaching the ISNHCP program. Module 2 of our ISNHCP program consists of 8 full days of hands-on trimming and sequencing. This module will teach students how to simulate natural wear patterns in the hooves with their tools and equipment amd work effectively with, and under the horse. Emphasis is on the integration of their previous study materials and lectures. They will receive demonstrations in combination with the hands-on application of trimming. All students will trim, on average, three or more hooves per day during these 9 days. Whether or not live horses are trimmed by students during this module is based upon a number of variables. Many students do not actually trim live horses until their first mentorship. However, all students will work with live horses each day to learn techniques in efficiency, body positioning, safe horse handling methods as well as learning to master the natural trim.
