Het antwoord wil ik niemand onthouden.
Voor degene die dit graag vertaald wil zien moet het maar even schrijven. Dan zal ik wel een samenvattende poging wagen
Hello Lynn!!
We now have 3 barefoot trimmers, the 3rd just completed the course
with Martha Friday at Texas A&M. You were probably talking to Officer
Danny Pryor and his horse Sioux. He was the second Officer to go
through barefoot school with Martha. I just pulled our 21st horse,
extremely deformed hooves. We will trim him, but this one might be
awhile while he heals. Most of the Officers have been very receptive,
some are not and will never allow their Mounts to go barefoot. We
will not order an Officer to go barefoot, but wait until they ask. We
started with one, my horse Shadow, a year and half ago, we are now up
to 21, and yes any new horse brought in will be barefoot. The hardest
thing to adjust to is the explaining how their horses now have much
better feeling, meaning they feel everything, including rough and
rocky terrain and they will immmediately adjust to it. This does not
mean sore or tender footed, just walk with more feeling.
The other thing you mentioned was an Officer being our Farrier. We
have never had an Officer assigned as our Farrier. Some of the
Officers can pull a loose shoe or replace one, but we have always
used a contracted Farrier for shoeing, never an Officer. I apologize
for any of our Mounted Officers who seemed gruff or closed minded. I
am always open to anyone talking or contacting me about any of our
horses, training, or barefoot. You can call me at 713-812-5158.
Thanks,
Greg Sokoloski, Police Officer
City of Houston Mounted Unit
